Firstly, sorry for the blog silence. I am Mel of little brain and managed to break my ankle two weeks ago so have been preoccupied with adjusting to crutches and plaster and am also head down in my Blood Kin revisions.
But for those of you who follow along here, you may have gathered that I like to knit. I also (handily) have a sister in law who is an awesome indie yarn dyer. She, being a clever thing, has produced some Shadow Kin yarn colourways inspired by the characters (and the gorgeous cover, natch). Very cool, even if I do say so myself! I made a few colour suggestions and she has made very pretty yarn! There are four colourways:
The yarn is 4ply 100% Australian Superwash merino, hand painted by Melissa and come in 100 gram hanks. The first skeins will be available at the Stranded In Oz stall at the Adelaide Craft and Quilt Fair (November 3-6) but after that, Melissa will be taking orders via her online store.
I hope if you buy some, then you’ll send me pics! Let’s just say extra cool things knitted in Shadow Kin yarns may rate a prize!
Thanks Melanie — glad you like the yarn. It’s very distracting as I work towards the Adelaide Craft and Quilt Fair. Each hank comes with a colour-coordinated Swarovski crystal sock stitch-marker. Special yarn for a special book!
The yarn is gorgeous. I love to knit. I always have a project on the go – baby booties & hats for the neonate ICU at the moment. SO small.

A very good thing to knit! And speedy, I’m guessing.
